About 15 years ago, after much thought, research and conversations with many, through what I could only say was divinely inspired, I decided to embark on a new career in dogs and opened Takara Kennels. My daughters and I raised and shown a rare breed of Japanese Chin and White Pekinese, which led to my building of a private Boarding Kennel on our property and helping to establish a no-kill rescue group for Stokes County. This all led to me meeting a lovey woman and Master Groomer, Linda, who had heard of me through my rescue efforts. She took me under her wing and taught me how to be a professional groomer for all breeds. She trained me extensively, for almost a year, mostly at my home based Kennel/Shop but also going to dog shows with me. When Linda retired the following year, she sold me her equipment as well as placing her entire clientele with me. I owned and operated Takara Kennels, teaching myself and my girls valuable skills in business lessons and gaining skills in handling, showing and grooming for over 7 years. Well life goes on, I've made several career changes since but my passions and drive has brought me back and the need has never been greater!

Over the years Paul has transitioned into a few career fields, not the least of which was as a local Waterman. He spent most of his adult life on a Fishing Vessel, dredging and cutting scallops. Being isolated from civilization days, even weeks at a time, made him learn to be resourceful, moved him up the ranks quickly from deckhand to engineer, to Mate and finally, Captain. Course, as any local will tell you, fishin, is seasonal, so peppered along the way through those times he also had many other jobs, mostly in the construction field or of a mechanical nature, to fill those times when the boat was moored for the winter. Never in a million years did he ever think all that training and resourcefulness would all be needed to pull together an amazing feat - the construction (build) of our Heaven Scent Mobile Grooming (SPA) Van! and venture into this new career that allows us to be together sharing our passion for animals and people!
