TERMS & CONDITIONS
Thank you for using Sleek & Chic for your dog’s grooming. It is accepted that when you bring your dog to Sleek & Chic for grooming you accept the following Terms & Conditions.
No dog will be subjected to stress or discomfort and all dogs will be groomed in accordance with The Animal Welfare Act 2007
Client Registration Form: Dogs will only be accepted for grooming after the Owner (or other responsible person) has completed and signed a Client Registration Form. By signing the form you are deemed to have accepted these Terms and Conditions. We will not groom your dog without a signed declaration.
PRICES: Our prices, for a full groom, include complimentary nail clipping and ear hair plucking, this does however depend on the cooperation of the dog. We will do our best to carry out these tasks, however if there is a risk of injury to our staff or the dog becomes stressed we will not continue with the process. We offer a free nail clipping service to our clients between regular grooming appointments. Please call to arrange a convenient day and time.
ACCEPTABLE COAT CONDITION: Starting prices for grooming are set on the following conditions:
i) That dogs are used to being professionally groomed on a regular basis and at a timing appropriate to the breed e.g. 4-6 weeks for curly coated breeds
ii) That the coat is well maintained between professional grooms (kept tangle, knot and matt free by regular at home brushing or combing).
In all long haired or curly coated breeds it is necessary to brush the coat regularly between appointments, the coat will need brushing right to the skin to prevent felting of the coat and matting. Our staff is more than happy to advise you on the correct brush and technique to use. If you wish to bring your dog to the salon for a demonstration on how to brush correctly, we will be happy to do this free of charge.
Any condition other than this is likely to take longer to deal with and will therefore incur additional charges.
You can reasonably expect to pay more than the starting price for:
• Matted, poorly maintained and or overgrown coats
• Dogs that are difficult to manage or uncooperative during grooming
• Overweight pets or oversized for the breed standard
• Timid, anxious or nervous pets, which require frequent breaks & may need special handling.
MATTED DOGS and NEGLECTED COATS: If a dog has bad coat matting we have a duty of care under the Animal Welfare Act 2007 to ensure the dog must be protected from pain, suffering, injury and disease. We will limit de-matting to a maximum of 15 minutes if it is not possible to de-matt the coat in this time it may mean that the only action we can take will be to completely shave the dog. We will do our utmost to ensure the dog is not hurt during this process but close shaving brings its own risks as does the use of sharp scissors and de-matting tools. The dog owner agrees that Sleek & Chic and/or its staff will not be held liable for any after-grooming effects of matt clipping procedures or problems "uncovered" by clipping off a badly matted, neglected coat. This could include, but is not limited to the following: itchiness, skin redness, irritations or abrasions however caused, post groom Furunculosis, Pyoderma - superficial or deep and/or Pyotraumatic dermatitis. If any veterinary treatment is required following this treatment, we will not be held responsible for any costs as a badly matted coat is deemed to be the result of negligence by the owner under the Animal Welfare Act 2007. No dog will be subjected to stress or discomfort and all dogs will be groomed in accordance with The Animal Welfare Act 2007. A shave-down will always incur an extra fee. We photograph and/or video every case of neglect brought into the salon for grooming and we also save a sample of fur. We reserve the right to use these items as we deem appropriate.
MATTED DOGS ADDITIONAL GROOMING TIME: Our standard grooming charge is for a groom time of between 1.5 and 2 hours. There is an additional charge of £7.50 per half an hour to our standard charge to groom a matted dog. When a dog is matted it causes additional wear and tear to our grooming tools and very often blades and scissors will need to be replaced or sharpened following a matted groom. This is factored into the additional charge.
YOUR PET'S HEALTH AND WELFARE: Whilst your pet is in our care its health and welfare is our primary concern. It will only ever be groomed according to its tolerance of the process. If your pet is fearful of any of the procedures employed during grooming, a workaround or alternative will be employed. Occasionally during grooming a pre-existing condition may be discovered which you may not have been aware of. We will notify you of this so that you can seek veterinary advice. Although extremely unlikely, accidents can happen during grooming. In the event of an accident or serious medical issue arising during your pet's groom we will seek immediately veterinary attention and these Terms & Conditions presume your agreement to this action.
FLEAS: We accept that fleas and dogs go hand in hand and we take every possible precaution to ensure the salon is kept flea clear by regular spraying and fumigation. If however a dog is presented to us with a bad flea infestation, we may need to cancel any following appointments and close the salon in order to fumigate and clean the salon. If this is necessary an additional £50 will be charged for fumigation and loss of business. Please ensure therefore that you advise us if you consider your dog has fleas in order that we can judge the severity of the problem.
FOOD & TOILET: It is preferred your dog is not fed for the two hours before grooming. Also please ensure your dog has been exercised and given the opportunity to empty bowel and bladder before their grooming appointment. We do not have the facilities to do this and it can be uncomfortable for a dog to be groomed with a full stomach, bowel or bladder.
LATE ATTENDANCE AND CANCELLATIONS: We really do appreciate you being on time for your appointment. Unfortunately if you are more than 15 minutes late for your appointment, we may not be able to undertake the grooming. If you are unable to attend for your appointment please advise us as quickly as possible so that we can offer the appointment to another client. Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice will carry a 50% of the cost of the groom levy, payable before the next appointment is booked. This may be waived if we are able to fill the appointment. Our groomers still have to be paid if an appointment is not kept. If a second appointment is not kept without notice then the full standard grooming price will be due.
REFUSAL OF A DOG: From time to time we will not accept a dog booked for grooming. This may be because of age, health issues or because the dog shows aggression. An appointment made by Chic & Sleek to conduct a grooming does not form a binding agreement if the dog is deemed to be unsuitable for grooming or a danger to staff or other dogs.
LATE COLLECTION CHARGE:
We do not have the facilities to keep your dog for any length of time. If you have been given a time to collect your dog please ensure you are at the salon by this time. If we call you to advise the dog is ready please collect please come stratight away. There is a late collection charge for dogs not collected on time following grooming.
AGGRESSIVE DOG BEHAVIOUR: The owner (or other responsible person) agrees to inform Sleek & Chic prior to grooming if the dog has bitten or has aggressive tendencies or has previously been rejected by another groomer. We are prepared to work with aggressive dogs provided their level of aggression does not put any member of staff or other dog present at risk of injury. We reserve the right to use a muzzle or ask you to muzzle your own dog. If the aggression of the dog continues or increases it may be that we will not be able to take the dog for any further appointments. If we are unable to complete a groom due to behavioural problems or aggression you will be charged the starting price of the groom. All costs are payable in full at the time you collect your pet.
PHOTOGRAPHS. Your pet may be photographed before, during or after its groom. Photographs may be used on our website, Facebook or other printed materials. Please let us know if you prefer you pet not to be photographed.
GROOM FEEDBACK. You will be given the opportunity for detailed feedback after every groom. If you have any queries or require further clarification, please just ask or contact us at a later stage. If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of your pet's groom please advise before you leave. Reasonable requests to alter the trim will be dealt with immediately or changes noted for the next groom. When you fill in an application form for one of our products or services, complete a form on our website or when you contact us by phone or e-mail, you are providing us with your personal information.
