C. April Franz is the Owner, Operator, Head Dog Trainer, and Pet Sitter.
Back Story: Animals have always been my passion. After 2 SAE projects in FFA, I pursed vet tech as I was already working at a vets office as a tech, but a tough professor and a learning disability made it a struggle. Juggling Full time job and full time student, I shifted gears earning a General Studies AS and a Web design cert in 2009. Marrying a Navy officer in 2010 meant constant moves, I rebuilt my business with every new location. When we landed in MN in 2019, my husband lost his job we relocated for. I worked for another company, tried to fix it, then walked away to start my own business. For years, I built Shooting Star Services, boarding dogs from home. In January 2024 I signed a lease to expand into training, grooming, and supplies. Weeks later, I discovered I needed open- heart surgery. We raced to open the shop and hire 5 employees, launching in March 2024 before my May 1 2024 surgery. Now, its just me and one employee, but the mission remains: Giver dogs especially the ones others turn away a place to belong.
