Barking Barber Mobile Pet Grooming Waiver
Pet’s Name __________________________ Breed: _________________________ is very important to us. Barking Barber (BB) would like to assure the pet owner that every effort will be made to make your pets grooming experience as safe and pleasant as possible. Safety comes first for everyone, people as well as pets. We are certified in pet first aid and have practiced all events to keep your pet safe and healthy. In order for this to be achieved, please read and sign the following prior to your pet’s first groom.
By signing this waiver regarding the above pet, the owner declares they are the legal owner and the pet; is currently licensed, has not been exposed to any infectious illness within the last thirty (30) days and has received the following vaccinations: Rabies, Distemper, Parvovirus, Leptospirosis and Bordetella. Presentation of documentation is not required.
Pets with severely matted coats require extra attention. Mats in a pet’s coat grow tight, and can ultimately damage and tear the pet's skin, which causes pain and provides a breeding ground for parasite infestation. BB will not cause undue stress or pain to your pet by dematting! Mats can be very difficult to remove, and may require the pet to be shaved. Removing a heavily matted coat can cause nicks, cuts or abrasions due to skin growths trapped in the mats. Heavy matting can also trap moisture and urine near the pet's skin allowing mold, fungus or bacteria to grow, producing skin irritations that existed prior to the grooming process. If your pet needs to be shaved to remove matting, by signing below you are in agreement with the procedure and any inherent risk such as razor burn. There may be an additional charge for this procedure, related to time and wear and tear on grooming equipment. BB will not be responsible for any injury your pet sustains due to pre-existing matting. Prevention is the best defense, by scheduling regular grooming appointments, every 4-6 weeks and BB will provide a short brushing class, at no cost, to help maintain a healthy pet.
BB is not responsible for any allergic reactions resulting from the manufacturer’s recommended use of a product. Even though we take great care in selecting safe and natural products, occasionally a reaction will occur. Please let BB know if your pet shows signs of this within 24 hours of their appointment and we will do everything we can to help. If an extra service is required an adjusted quote will be discussed. Occasionally, grooming can expose a hidden medical problem or aggravate a current one. This may occur during or after grooming. BB is not responsible for veterinary care that may be needed for these irritations.
The key to communication and getting an accurate quote is providing an honest history of your pet. Upon physical inspection of the pet, by the groomer, an estimated price will be provided. Final price will depend on the temperament of each pet and the condition of their coat. If the pet has a history of aggression, heath issues, skin issues, etc., this information must be provided prior to the service.
Interruptions during Grooming Services
For the safety of the pet and the pet groomer the pet owner is asked not to attempt to open the mobile grooming van door during the grooming service. If your pet is lost due to this action, BB will not be held responsible. You are welcome to watch the groom, remembering that this may make it more difficult for your pet, as they see you out of reach. Please do not talk to your pet and make every effort for them not to see you. An excited pet causes more risk for injury. If the owner must speak to the groomer please call BB or knock and the groomer will open the door once the pet is secured. If communication makes the grooming situation unsafe the grooming session will end even if the groom is incomplete and priced accordingly.
Entering the vehicle
BB is not responsible for any injury that may be incurred by the pet owner entering the van to assist the groomer. If BB needs the owner’s assistance and this is not an option for the owner, BB will have to end the service. Upon reuniting the pet and owner, BB will discuss future possibilities for grooming in “spaced out sessions” or getting veterinary guidance prior to future appointments. A $50.00 arrival fee will be charged for the incomplete groom.
Pre-existing medical conditions
BB is not responsible for pre-existing medical conditions or the aggravation of those conditions such as, but not limited to; heart disease, arthritis, obesity, infections, skin condition or any other medical problem that may be affected by the grooming procedure.
The right to refuse a service
If the owner shares that the pet is in well health and BB finds otherwise after physical evaluation, BB has the right to refuse the service due to sanitation and safety reasons. In the event that your pet is too stressed or becomes dangerous to groom, BB has the right to refuse grooming services or stop a grooming service at any time. If your pet has a tick, BB will remove it and keep the tick in a zip-lock bag for evidence to provide to the owner. It is up to the owner whether they are going to get the tick tested for lime disease. If a pet has pre-existing fleas, BB does not provide the grooming service. If fleas are found during the service, BB is not responsible to remove the fleas due to contamination purposes and is not responsible for any veterinary bills regarding these events. The client will be charged a $50.00 arrival fee and possibly additional fees for decontamination of the van.
If any medical problems develop while the pet is in the care of BB, an assessment will be completed by BB to do whatever is necessary for the health and well being of the pet. If the pet’s behaviour results in physical injury, BB will utilize first aid training to their best ability. Although accidents are very rare, grooming equipment is sharp. Even though BB uses extreme caution and care in all situations, possible problems may occur. Most often when a pet is wiggling, moving around or requires dematting. Your pet’s safety and comfort is our number one priority. In the event an accident does occur, you will be notified right away. If serious, the owner will be asked to decide if they want the pet to be seen by a vet and the location. They will also be asked how they want their pet transported. If the owner is not reachable and BB believes the pet requires veterinary care they will transport the pet to a Veterinary clinic. If the owner chooses to transport the pet BB will follow behind. By signing this waiver, if the owner is unable to transport the pet and requests BB to transport their pet to the best of their ability, understands the risks involved, that BB will not be held responsible for any injury the pet may sustain during transportation and allows a vet, lawyer, or adviser affiliated with BB to access any affiliated records. The owner is aware of accident risks and that BB is not responsible for the cost of medical care required.
Owner must be reachable
During the initial appointment, the owner must be home in order to review this waiver, the pet’s condition and expectations of the groom. Once this step is complete, the owner is able to leave the facility but must be reachable by phone. In the event of an emergency BB must be able to contact them for any decisions required under “Accident”. BB will also need to contact the owner to inform them when the appointment is complete. If the owner is unreachable extra fees may be applied for additional time.
The BB grooming van is only operational on level ground while parked and is not able to go underground. Accessible parking must be available. In allowing the service to be provided on the pet owner’s property, the pet owner assumes responsibility for any possible damage. BB is not able to transport pets, outside of an emergency scenario. If the van needs to be parked away from the pet owner’s residence the groomer will meet the pet and owner at the mutually agreed upon location. If payment is required for parking there, this will be provided by the pet owner.
Since BB is echo friendly we do not keep the vehicle running while performing a service. We utilize a battery to power our tools, which recharges in transition between appointments. If the groom exceeds the predicted time, BB will need to access a household outlet to complete the service with no applicable discount.
Your satisfaction is important to us. If you are unhappy for any reason, and would like something adjusted, we will be happy to make any adjustments when you are reunited with your pet at the end of the appointment. Once BB has left the premises of grooming, any return visits may be treated as a new appointment with applicable fees.
